Production Log

This production log, I will talk about what our documentary "storyline" type of thing should be like. We should start off making like we are actually doing a real documentary about dress code. But after a couple interviews we find out that someone has disappeared and gone into hiding because they got caught breaking dress code and fled the scene. Our crew though did not catch it on tape and the only video is like a Bigfoot type of video where it shows the suspect walking away and then he/she turns their head around and looks at the camera and then walks off behind a building or something. Then the documentary turns into the mockumentary and we start interviewing the people who are searching for the suspect. Then later when the suspect is found, we do more interview from everyone and maybe even the suspect.

Paris is Burning

In the documentary, Paris is Burning, one perspective of drag balls would be that they are the best ways for someone in drag to let all their feelings out in a public place without any consequences. Others are not in to that type of thing but just leave people who do drag on their own and let them do their own thing. Basically they don't care much about it. There are also people who also are not into drag balls but it is a little overboard for them and they don't like the fact that people do that at all. They basically want to stop drag altogether.
The people who go to drag balls to watch or participate are the ones who like the drag balls and feel that is is the best way for people in drag to let out all their feelings. They are also the people who feel awkward on the streets and don't feel like they fit in. But in drag balls, they can fit in.
There are also people who aren't into that type of thing, but let it be and try not to get involved with any commotion. Those are the people who can care less. I would probably be in this category.
Other people who also aren't into drag and drag balls, but they don't like it so much that they want to stop it altogether. They will call people who go to drag balls derogatory names or even kill them. There are many people who are like this. In the documentary a person in drag was murdered because that person was going to drag balls before they could finish the documentary.
Those are three different types of opinions about drag and drag balls.

Production Log

If the topic we were doing for our documentary was surfing, some essential topics that would need to be followed would be the following...
-tow-in vs. paddle-in
-artificial reefs
-windsurfers vs. surfers (safety)
-epoxy vs. fiberglass
-contests vs. soul surfer
-are surfers bums?
-crowds
-line-up order
To get some opinions on these topics, it would be great to interview some surfers maybe even including a pro surfer. We could also ask non surfers questions that might be different if we asked them like 'are surfers bums?'

PC vs. Mac

Many people have at least one computer. There are different types of computers and there is always the question on what type of computer is better. The most popular computers are PCs and Macs. Most people have a PC but Mac is getting more and more popular. If you look at all the Mac commercials, they have a lot of reasons that Macs are better. But the main reason why PC is better is that they are much faster and most computer hardware and software is made for PCs. I like PCs better than Macs because of the same reasons as above.
Mac computers are much easier to use for people who have just learned to use a computer because everything is basically straight forward. PCs are a little more complicated but people can still use them. For a nice home computer to keep music, pictures, videos, and things like that, a Mac would be good but there are PCs made for that too. For a business, a PC would be the way to go because PCs have a lot of memory and can have basically any type of software installed to it. Overall, Macs are computers for basically home computers and PCs can be the type of computer you want for any type of situation.

Video Project

I think that our video project should be about the sport of surfing. Surfing is a good topic because there is a lot of background information that we can provide the viewer with. Since we live in Hawaii surf is not hard to find and is a part of many people's lives. There are a lot of different people that we can interview and there are also different opinions on the sport of surfing. Most people will say that surfing is a great, fun sport, which I agree with. But another view of surfing is that it is a sport for slackers or bums. This can be supported by the fact that there are many surfers including pros that dropped out of high school for surfing. But surfing is such an awesome sport. I can relieve stress and it can also raise adrenaline. It is also a sport for all ages. Doing our video project on surfing would be very fun.

The Hawaii Superferry

There has been a lot of controversy about the Hawaii Superferry. I can see why many of the locals on Maui and Kauai are mad about this. If you have ever seen the west side of Kauai, where barely anyone lives, you would know how beautiful it is. There is no road going around that side of the island but you can still get there by other methods of transportation. My neighbors flew to Kauai with their kayaks and kayaked around the west side of Kauai, stopping at every valley to camp out. Right after their trip, there was talk about the Hawaii Superferry going to Kauai and Maui. My neighbors were bummed because they couldn't imagine what it would be like with a lot of tourists there rather than just a few people. Even though there is no road on the west side and people are bringing their cars, it still doesn't mean that they can't visit the west side. Also, when people visit there, they might wreck the environment like leaving their rubbish all over the place. Their cars will also fill up the existing roads. The problem is probably the same for Maui.
Another thing about the Hawaii Superferry is that the people who started up the business didn't ever bother to ask the public for their opinion about the Superferry idea. Now that the Superferry is already doing its routes, the public only now has the chance to speak up louder although it might be too late. Right now there are people protesting and they have caused many delays for the Superferry. If they are able to keep this up, it could help stop the Superferry from running its routes to Kauai and Maui altogether.

7 Ways of Looking at a Deadline

I
I look at the clock,
It is due 23 hours from now.
I have just enough time,
If I get a good start on it.
So I feel relaxed.

II
School finishes
And I manage to scribble out a few words.
I think there is a good amount of time to finish.

III
My after school practice is over;
19 hours left,
2 of them I’ll be eating and doing things that I usually do,
8 of them I’ll be sleeping,
And 4 of them I’ll be in class the next day.
So I basically have about 5 hours to complete it.
That’s a lot of time…Right?

IV
I get home and scribble down a little more,
But end up having to do other homework
Even though time passes, there should be enough time to finish

V
I wind up scribbling more down before I go to bed.
Will I have enough time tomorrow during my breaks to finish it?

VI
The next day I have 3 hours of break,
And I realize later on that there are only 2 hours left.
I finish my scribbling
But now I have to arrange my thoughts and type it out
And I start to worry,
There isn’t much time left to finish it all.

VII
Because I start to worry,
I start to get into the zone to finish it.
I jam for a while without looking at the clock and I finally finish.
But what time is it?
My heart skips a beat
Am I late for class?
I turn to the clock quickly…
1 hour left
Relief runs over me.
I feel great that I finally got it finished before the deadline.
